Thank you for caring and visiting

Lindsay is a recent Virginia Commonwealth University graduate who suffered severe and debilitating complications following surgery for Crohn's disease, resulting in quadruple amputations. Initially hospitalized on August 3, 2007 she remained in intensive care until early December, when she was moved to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore to begin rehabilitative therapy. She has since returned to Richmond to continue her therapy and recuperation among friends and family. Lindsay's medical expenses far exceed insurance coverage. Love of Lindsay has been created by friends of Lindsay to accept donations to help cover these costs. Donations of all sizes are deeply appreciated. Thank you for your kindness and support.

Postcards for Lindsay: February 2008

Throughout the month of February, Corporate & Museum Frame at 301 West Broad Street hosted a very special art exhibit and sale titled Postcards for Lindsay. Local (and not so local) artists donated small framed and unframed pieces: some were existing pieces, others were created specially for the event. Prints, paintings, drawings, photography, collage: original works by both well-knowns and unknowns sold for $25, $35, $50, $100 and $150 depending on size and medium.

Every buyer received a wonderful work of art at a remarkable price; some made surprisingly valuable purchases. But each sale was worth far more than simply the value of the art itself, as 100% of the over $17,000 in proceeds will go to help Lindsay and her family.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Corporate & Museum Frame for offering to host the event, and for all the time and energy Anahita, Joseph and staff dedicated to making this such a success. We’d also like to thank the volunteers and friends of Lindsay who helped out on the opening nights: it was frantically busy, and it could not have been done without them.

Most of all, we’d like to thank the artists who so generously donated their work, and all of you who came and bought. Your donations and your purchases have truly made a positive difference for Lindsay and her family. Thank you for your kindness.

  1. Hi Lindsay,
My name is Julia Santos Solomon, and I am an artist. I am an old friend of John Homs
ans Jo Watson’s. I donated four pieces to the “postcards” fundraiser, and have sent out emails to fellow artists all over the country to send artwork or donations.I live in Woodstock, NY and was in Richmond this past weekend. John, Jo, my husband Marty and I met for brunch and talked about you…I was very touched. I see you were involved with setting up VCU’s fashion shows! I taught fashion design and illustration at Parsons School of Design in NYC for 18 years! Once you get used to your new prosthetics, I have some ideas for you to provide inspiration. Maybe we’ll meet one day. May God Bless You. I’m sure you are very special….like an angel. :) Julia

  2. Hello, I’ve read several articles about you, I wish you the very best. Another day I’ll share a little about who I am, life is what we make of it, and you have that inner strength to make it work. For your home modifications, if things haven’t moved ahead yet, my company will donate all the roofing & insulation products. If I can be of more help, let me know. Dana Nelson
