Lindsay is a recent Virginia Commonwealth University graduate who suffered severe and debilitating complications following surgery for Crohn's disease, resulting in quadruple amputations. Initially hospitalized on August 3, 2007 she remained in intensive care until early December, when she was moved to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore to begin rehabilitative therapy. She has since returned to Richmond to continue her therapy and recuperation among friends and family. Lindsay's medical expenses far exceed insurance coverage. UPDATE AUGUST 22

I know it has been quite some time since we have updated everyone on Lindsay’s progress. We have had a very busy summer. Lindsay underwent Hyperbaric Oxygen treatments for 20 days to help speed the healing of her right leg. We think that the treatments really helped and are awaiting final determination from the Doctor as to whether she will have to have surgery. Lu will still have to undergo surgery to close her trach and repair a hernia. Her Crohn’s seems to be better and for that we are grateful. Lindsay had a great time doing her teacher assistantship for the third year at VCU. She was able to connect with a wonderful group of high school students with  an interest in Fashion. We also took our first airplane trip to visit Lu’s grandmother and Aunt Donna in their new home in Illinois. She has many plans for her future which I think would be best for her to tell everyone herself on the next update!!
